ESBI Computing mobilises the enterprise for First Tuesday

On April 30th First Tuesday held a conference in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin entitled 'Mobilising the Enterprise'. ESBI Computing was invited to participate and Noel Mc Nally presented on "Realising the power of mobile GIS". The purpose of this half-day seminar was to look at various business solutions based on mobile technologies, and included real-world advice on how to avoid common pitfalls when implementing mobility solutions. To compliment ESBI Computing's presentation, Mark Conroy from Galway County Council gave a presentation on the successful use of ESBI Computing's GeoMobile application in the implementation of Galway County Council's Polluter Pays Principle (PPP) Project.

ESBI Computing's presentation dealt with Mobile Geographical Information Systems (m-GIS). The presentation began by introducing the concept of GIS and its use in the Enterprise via Web GIS applications. It them moved on to focus on 'getting mobile with GIS', and examined the components of Mobile GIS and various mobile technology issues. From a practical aspect the presentation dealt with what can be done with Mobile GIS while also highlighting many industry uses of Mobile GIS technology. The final part of the presentation involved a demonstration of some real world solutions using ESBI Computing's GeoMobile application. ESBI Computing was delighted with the reaction to the presentation and to their GeoMobile application.

The other presenters on the day included Galway County Counci, Infocell Telecom, Sony Ericsson, Vodafone and Damovo.

About First Tuesday

First Tuesday as a concept gained much ground all over the world since October 1998. In Ireland the concept is run through Investnet Ltd and its objectives are to promote, accelerate and assist the entrepreneurial process through knowledge sharing events and industry platforms. It is probably best know for the networking meetings which it runs where technology entrepreneurs have a chance to meet prospective investors and venture capitalists.
