ESBI Computing showcase their new "out-of-the-box" Web GIS application at GIS 2001

This year, GIS 2001, the UK's leading event dedicated to spatial business intelligence, took place from September 18th - 20th in Earls Court London. For the first time ESBI Computing participated in the trade show, and in continuing their close relationship with MapInfo (ESBI Computing is MapInfo's only Strategic Partner in Ireland), they appeared on the MapInfo stand.

ESBI Computing's presence at GIS 2001 signified the company's entrée into the UK geospatial marketplace. GIS 2001 was used to showcase our new Web GIS application - GeoXplorer™. GeoXplorer™ is a powerful Web GIS application for presenting and querying spatial data over an Intranet or the Internet. With varied and rich functionality, GeoXplorer™ can be used as an out-of-the-box solution to get GIS data on the Web quickly. It can also fast track the development of geo-enabled business solutions. Additionally, its powerful functionality and expandability means that it can become a powerful addition to or replacement of existing desktop GIS implementations

GeoXplorer™ has been built on MapInfo's MapXtreme™ NT mapping application server.

According to Adrienne Eacrett, GeoBusiness Manager at ESBI Computing:

"GeoXplorer™ has been developed by ESBI Computing in response to an identified gap in the market for a GIS application that can provide comprehensive "out-of-the-box" Web functionality. The ability to rapidly develop solutions based around GeoXplorer™, coupled with our extensive experience and resources, means that we can provide our customers with Web GIS business solutions in a fast and efficient manner".

In order to establish GeoXplorer™ as a leading Web GIS application in the UK marketplace, ESBI Computing has appointed Aligned Assets, based near Guilford in Surrey, to act as a re-seller for the product. Aligned Assets is a well-established supplier to the UK GIS market and has a very strong presence in the UK local government market, which will be one of the initial targets for GeoXplorer™. According to Eacrett:

"Aligned Assets have both the market profile to sell and the technical skills to implement and support GeoXplorer™, and we are confident that our relationship will be a very fruitful one".
