MapInfo User Group Ireland meets in Dublin

The MapInfo User Group for the UK & Ireland (MUG UKI) met in the Camden Hotel Dublin on May 22nd. The Irish branch of the group was set-up in 2002 and already has gathered much interest among the growing community of MapInfo users in Ireland, as evidenced by the number of attendees at the meeting. ESBI Computing, as the only MapInfo Strategic Partner in Ireland was one of the founding members of the group and played a key role in getting it started.

The objective of the Group is to assist members to get the maximum benefit from their investment in MapInfo products through regular meeting and communication between MapInfo users. The majority of MUG UKI members are local authorities and utilities but includes a growing number of commercial organisations as well as most of the major resellers and developers of MapInfo. The group is fully recognised and supported by MapInfo UK and regularly has speakers from MapInfo at their meetings. A volunteer committee runs the group

At the recent Dublin meeting MapInfo gave a number of presentations, including product updates. Jerry O' Sullivan from ESBI Computing made a presentation entitled "Geo-Enabling your Enterprise - MapXtreme® and MapX ® Mobile". Elaine Ryan from ESB's Electrical Power Systems gave a presentation on GEOLAS - the geographic on-line assistant for the Electricity Transmission network which was developed by ESBI Computing on their behalf.
