Cúl Green wins Inspired IT Award
October 2008
We are very happy to announce that the Cúl Green website won the Green IT Project Award at this year's Inspired IT Awards.
The Awards were held at the Mansion House last night. ESB, the GAA and all at Croke Park are delighted that their hard work and the support of the fans on the Cúl Green initiative has been recognised in this way.
The site was developed by ESBI Computing and includes a sophisticated pledging system that allows fans and all interested members of the public to play their part by pledging to reduce their own carbon footprint and their completed pledges contribute to the overall stadium target. Each registered user is given a personalised account through which they manage and track their energy saving pledges. The Award recognised the Cúl Green project as innovative, inspirational and highly relevant to current environmental initiatives in Government and the private domain.
Peter McKenna, Stadium Director, after receiving the Award said "We are delighted that the hard work and commitment of the team at ESBI Computing and Cúl Green was recognised in the Green IT Project award. The development of the website and pledging system has been an integral part of engaging with fans and the general public to encourage everyone to support a greener Croke Park. We are delighted with the site and the award acknowledges the effort that went in to making it happen."
The Awards were hosted by iReach and the opening speech was made by Minister of State at the Department of Communications Sean Power T.D. Further details of the 2008 Inspired IT Awards can be found at www.inspiredawards.com.
The Cúl Green website has been live for two months and already there have been nearly 10,000 pledges made, amounting to over 1,100 tonnes of carbon saved.
