We provide a range of Mobile GIS solutions to allow you to view and edit your GIS data in the field. At ESBI Computing we have developed our own off-the-shelf mobile GIS application called GeoMobile. GeoMobile is based on MapX^® Mobile - MapInfo's powerful mapping component for the Pocket PC. GeoMobile also works with the Navman GPS (Global Positioning Systems) receiver, giving you the power to locate yourself to your real world position using GeoMobile.

GeoMobile is a powerful Mobile Geographic Information System (GIS), which will allow you to take your GIS applications off the desktop and into the field using pocket PC devices. GeoMobile gives you the ability to synchronise data between your pocket PC and your desktop PC or office network.

GeoMobile will enable you to view, capture and verify map and attribute data directly in the field. Your maps are representations of real world objects. Now you can view, create and modify those objects while standing on or next to them.

Navman GPS Receiver

The Navman GPS is a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, which operates with a pocket PC eg.. HP iPAQ. A GPS device locates itself by reference to satellites, and feeds this locational information to the software loaded on the pocket PC. This allows a user to identify their current location on a map. Together with GeoMobile, it provides a powerful mobile GIS/GPS solution.

The Navman has the following key features:

• A convenient, compact, expandable GPS sleeve which fits neatly over your pocket PC
• Provides accuracy of 5 metres 95% of the time
• Increased capability to receive GPS signal from any direction
• 12-channel satellite signal receiver
• Type II Compact Flash expansion slot use for maps or any other data or applications
• The GPS sleeve communicates to the Pocket PC via the NMEA 0183 V2.01 standard at 57600 baud with position updates every two seconds
• Vehicle power adapter charges iPAQ while operating
• iPAQ battey life: 1.5 to 2.2 hours with full backlighting and GPS enabled
• Ideal for in-car and handheld operation
