software products that we sell. We offer a range of standard training
courses in both MapInfo® and MicroStation, and courses are provided
to suit all levels of competency from Introductory through to
Advanced courses.
All our trainers are certified instructors and can work with
you to customise the course to meet their specific requirements.
This customisation can include the use of data that is already
familiar to you, thereby significantly reducing the learning curve
because you can associate the new software functions with familiar
data. Training can be carried out at our premises or in your own
offices.
Duration: Two days
This course is an entry-level course for staff new to MapInfo®
Professional®. It includes hands-on use of the software to create,
edit and analyse geo-referenced data. This course will enable
staff to utilise MapInfo's different views of data and its user
interface. Students learn to understand and use the layering system
and perform querying and geographic searching of maps and data,
including thematic mapping. Additional topics covered are reporting
and printing using the layout window for effective map presentation.
GeoCoding, Annotation, buffering, importing & exporting Data,
creation of map objects and population of associated tables and
managing those tables are also dealt with in a comprehensive manner
during this two day introductory course.
Duration: Two days
This in-depth two-day course explores the potential of MapInfo's
more powerful and complex functions including Advanced Geo-coding
(using a Sample of GeoDirectory) and Advanced SQL and Select queries
to search the users maps and data. Displaying registered & unregistered
maps and geocoding of tables of Data are explored in depth. Advanced
Thematic Mapping and other features including Buffering to analyse
data, and assignment of map objects to groups or districts are
also covered. Updating tables using expressions & functions, accessing
remote databases through Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) and
assignment of coordinates to stored objects in a remote database
are covered in detail. This course leaves the student with a solid
understanding of MapInfo® Professional®.
Duration: One day
This is an in-depth one-day course, which explores the new features
of the latest MapInfo version upgrade. The course demonstrates
how these new features will improve your ability to input data
to MapInfo, to access data from other sources, to analyse your
data and also to present your data. Typical topics covered are
Internet functionality, Universal Translator, Live ODBC access
to Data sources and updated Crystal reports.
Duration: Two days
This is a two-day entry level course for staff who wish to learn how
to use the MapBasic programming language to customise MapInfo
to specific end-user functionality requirements, and develop customised
applications to run within the MapInfo environment. It is a hands
on course with pratical exercises allowing the student gain experience
with the language. The student will be able to create applications
to automate & add to functionality within MapInfo. Also covered
are complex operations utilising 'branching' & 'looping' not otherwise
available in MapInfo. Students will be able to write code to create
edit & delete both MapInfo tables & graphical objects and code
to preform spatial analysis routines.
Duration: One - two days
This general training usually takes the format of a seminar or workshop, introducing and discussing general GIS concepts. These seminars can be presented as generic GIS concepts or directed towards specific software and applications. Typical topics covered include :

- Comparative GIS Software
- Spatial Analysis
The course content and duration is usually a function of the number of participants and their level of awareness of GIS.
