MapInfo Professional Product Update
July 2004
MapInfo will be realising a major product upgrade in September 2004, to be called MapInfo V7.8. Shortly thereafter in November 2004, MapInfo will start with private and public Alpha and Beta programs for the .NET line.
The Beta period will be used to ensure that requirements from customers can best be met and validated in a comprehensive manner. In addition, the program will provide customers enhanced capabilities while thus allowing them to evaluate MapInfo's .NET platform and the implications of running it within their environment.
What will be in MapInfo Professional V7.8?
As with previous major releases, MapInfo will focus on implementing functionality based on customer feedback, industry trends and supporting ever-changing IT environment of customers.
The areas that will be focused on are:
- Improved and enhanced data access
- Improved connectivity and increased support of OGC standards
- Improving data creation, display and processing capabilities
- Improving layout and publishing capabilities
More specific feature information will be provided closer to September 2004.
